BREAKING NEWS: PM Tells Candlelight Party Leaders to Clarify Sam Rainsy's Statement

Kampong Chhnang: Prime Minister Hun Sen told the leaders of the Candlelight Party to come forward and clarify the position and opinion of Sam Rainsy's statement that insulted the King.

In a meeting with more than 3,000 flood victims in Kampong Chhnang province on the morning of 26 October 2022, the Prime Minister named Teav Vannol, Son Chhay, and Thach Setha, who are the leaders of the Candlelight Party, to come out and confirm whether Sam Rainsy's words that insulted the King are appropriate or inappropriate?

"I would like to emphasize that this is not a trivial matter or a joke," the Prime Minister said. "Members of the Candlelight Party should secede as soon as possible to avoid any [future] problems."

The "third generation traitor" Sam Rainsy recently insulted the King by saying that "the King of Cambodia has no national conscience," and for accusing the King of signing a decree that cut off land to foreigners. Such insults provoke condemnation from the Royal Government and all ministries and institutions.

During a rice seed distribution ceremony for more than 5,000 flood-affected farmers in Pursat province on 25 October 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen urged the people to take part in preventing and fighting groups that insulted the King.

The Prime Minister said: "Both monks and laity, please stand up against the traitors and any party associated with this traitor. To ensure the protection of the monarchy, the protection of the throne, the protection of the King, the unity of the peace of our territory."
